Hello and welcome, I’m Jay Bessell.

I’ve worked in the wine and hospitality industry my entire career — a journey that has taken me from Melbourne dining rooms to Europe’s most iconic wine regions, with a particular love for all things Italian.

Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to travel, taste, learn, and meet the people behind the bottles, discovering the human stories that make wine so special.

I started Glass Half Full Wine Consulting out of a desire to connect people with those stories.

I share my passion through;

• Events (public, private and corporate)

• Staff Training at some of Melbourne’s leading venues

• Writing Wine Lists that are well-researched and curated

My mission is simple: to educate and entertain through wine, in a way that’s genuinely warm, engaging, and completely unpretentious.

I strive to be a trusted voice and familiar face in the world of wine, inspiring people to explore with confidence and never be afraid to ask questions.
